KVK Namsai Promotes Nutritional Security through Kitchen Garden under Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan
A day long training cum demonstration programme on nutritional security through kitchen gardening at farmers’ level organised at Zona IV village on 22nd Oct 2018 by ICAR – KVK Namsai under Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan (KKA) phase II. The objective of this training programme is Food security and nutritional diversity is one of the key areas that a developing country should address. For poor households, vegetables and fruits are often the only sources of micronutrients in the family diet. During training programme, Dr. Santosh Kumar, encouraged to farmers to adopt organic practice to produced organic vegetable, bee and mushroom to secure food free from harmful chemicals. Total 81 farmers including Goan Bura were participated in the training programme. In this continuation, Dr. BKD Bora SMS, Animal Science KVK Namsai has also explained the potential of milk as good source of food nutrients as well as income generation. Dr. Santosh Kumar, SMS Animal Science explained the importance of tradition practices in organic farming and its benefit for human health. Total 81 farmers including Goan Bura were participated in the training programme.
